About Kent

Kent J. Riley was a devoted husband, loving father, playful friend, and accomplished scientist who had too few years to share his knowledge and spirit.  He dedicated his leisure time to coaching his children, Galen and Erica, in youth sports and providing leadership within youth sports organizations so they may better serve all children of the community.

After earning a PhD from MIT, Kent worked as a Nuclear Engineer at MIT and RMD, and upon receiving his diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma, he transferred his energies to the medical field, becoming a Medical Physicist in the Radiology Oncology Department of Massachusetts General Hospital.

Kent endured two stem cell transplants, suffering complications after the second.  Sadly, after a courageous five-year battle with Multiple Myeloma, Kent passed away in June 2014 at the age of 43.  His family is grateful for the love and support they received from their family, friends, Kent's medical team from MGH, and the wonderful hospice care he received from Parmenter Community Healthcare.

About Hospice

Hospice workers provide an invaluable gift.  Kent was able to enjoy the comforts of home, be with his family and free from pain.  Many providers volunteer their time to provide this comfort.  We are proud to support their work.
